Picking Through Treasures

My Gammy loved things.  She kept most everything she ever owned.  Now she is gone, and there is a plethora or things to go through.  Recently in combing through an old kitchen drawer she had stored, I found a  little box of quilt squares.  This one is my favorite.

I thought about putting the quilt together, but the material is weak, so I have decided to do crafts with it instead.  There's an old window with a quilt behind it that I love on a blog that I saw recently, and I think I can make that work, since I have an old window sitting in my garage.  I'll start on it tonight and post some pics tomorrow to show you how it's going.

I also am in love with the drawers that she kept from my great-grandparents' kitchen when she remodeled.  I grabbed two of them and am planning on using them in my closet, but they are so cool looking I just want to display them with something in my great room for everyone to see.  Haven't decided which to do yet.  Look at the cool color!  I lurve that color aqua.  There's still so much to go through, can't wait to see what else I find!

turquoise beauty

I had an old washstand that was green and not pretty.  I decided to turquoise it up, add some shelves and a little paneling (painted, of course, turquoise) and oila!  I now have a coolio hutch.  I love it and have been playing with different things on the shelves.

I even found this bowl set to put on the shelves for a steal!

Giant pinecone I found along with some antique pottery, ahhh, perfection!

crafts and summer 2010

Crafty thing I want to do soon:
This flag garland from Emily at Salt Water Kids is AWESOME!!  Check out her tutorial!

Stuff happening:
First week of summer for the kids!!  Yea!!

Friends have already been congregating at my house and sleep overs where there was no sleep had are in full swing!!  We have one leaving for football camp Sunday and one leaving for volleyball camp Wednesday and then I go to a seminar for work on Thursday.  Wow, I just thought school time was busy!!

The child going to football camp always gets spiffied up in his team's colors, but the problem is, football camp is at his team's rival school!  Dad didn't want him to get his rear-end beat, so we had to go buy some different colored clothing for camp.  Sister didn't want to be left out and gave me her best puppy-dog eyes and got a few things for her camp too, (which she could never buy another piece of clothing and be well-dressed for 10 years.)

Needless to say the excitement at our place is growing as the day of departures get closer.  I am excited for them to have the experience at a college campus and let them both know there is a life outside of this little town.

Hoping I get a little time to spend outside of class this weekend too to have a little fun.  The hubby is supposed to come down and hang out with me.  My favorite restaurant is just down the road from the hotel, so I'm hoping I get a chance to visit!  (Also hope the seafood is not more expensive than it usually is there!)

He's been cooking for two days trying to feed his whole crew at work this Saturday at a work party.  It smells like barbeque at our house and I can't wash out the smell because my washer works occassionally and my dryer just makes noises.  ARRGGG!!

Do It Yourself Bird Feeder

Life has been CRAZY and I haven't gotten to blog lately, but here I am! I'm back!! In Texas, spring has sprung and I have loads of ideas floating around in my head to do. This one from Be Different...Act Normal looks really easy and fun to do with some bored kids. Take a look at the link: Do It Yourself Bird Feeder

My daughter made it through prom and had a super-terrific time. She danced until her calves hurt. My son's basketball season is finally over with great success, now on to baseball for him, without the stress. I'm so thankful to have kids who respect adults and have heart when they participate in their chosen activities. They make me very proud.

Tons of pictures to upload from all kinds of events, and have to go back to courtroom now, so bye for now!
